To beat the heat this summer try a south facing garden bed. Normally a north facing garden will produce the Best results however once December is here, it's hard to keep everything alive. Most gardeners will refrain from growing most things over the Xmas period and will wait for the cooler Feb and march to arrive.
To grow lettuce, rocket and other greens, create a garden bed that faces south. Backing on to a hedge will provide extra protection from the sun and provide a home for beneficial bugs and animals to hide in.
Keep pots in your garden and arrange them create a little retreat for frogs. Frogs, toads are great pest control and you are lucky if you have them in your garden. As they drink through their skin, a bird bath or similar container laying on the ground will help attack these snail eaters into your garden.
Rocket and other greens will come to seed very quickly. To extend the life of your greens simply remove the sprouting flower stem. This is easily identified by the sprouting shoot protruding from it's centre.

Hi, I am just posting this message as a reason to show my courtesy towards your blogs and how i like the way you have managed it. I have been browsing through your blogs and I have to tell you that, You have got some interesting articles follows through lots of innovative ideas and useful and necessary gardening tips and information which is very pleasent. As I also can see that you have no longer posted or updated any of your articles after 2012, is there a reason for this? I am just curious and dont mind my tone if you find it offending you for any reason. Because, I am not hear to interrogate you, but it sad to see some interesting blogs to wither away or to be in a dying position. I am a great writer or journalist or blogger but your blogs gives me a little bit inspiration to start to write again, Although I myself donot like writing. But could you be kind to post any more of your ideas or giving any thought to the newblogger about starting their blogs with things they really like, like yourself. Because I am just an ordinary high school student wondering around to start doing something intruging (eg.blogging) to improve my English, as I am stuck in Australia where the value of the life depends on your level of mastery in English Language. The tide changes almost every year depending on your OP which requires English. Sorry for my rant. Thanks, again and I will follow up your posts.
